Access to the Outdoors

Eagle is an outdoor recreation hotspot — all year round. Between skiing, mountain biking and fishing, the access to activities from your Eagle home is unparalleled. Eagle has extensive trail systems. Depending on the trail, you can find singletrack mountain biking, hiking and trail running, horseback riding, or even ATV access. In the winter, many trails transition to Nordic skiing or snowshoeing trails for year-round access.

From Eagle, you can access both Vail Resort and Beaver Creek Resort within a 40-minute drive — and there are no mountain passes in between. The ski areas are owned by Vail Resorts and are on the Epic ski pass, so you can ski / snowboard on both resorts easily. Both of the premier ski resorts have summer amenities as well — like scenic chairlift rides, camps for kids and other family activities, downhill mountain biking, and more hiking access.

Fishing and hunting are abound around Eagle as well. Fish the Eagle River or Brush Creek, or many of the nearby mountain lakes. In the fall hunting season, big game tags include deer, elk and moose.

Proximity to Airports

The Eagle County Regional Airport is located just four miles west of the town of Eagle. There are direct flights to and from Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Toronto and Washington, D.C. The airport is serviced by Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta and United.

Denver International Airport is located a 2.5-hour drive from Eagle, and there are shuttle services available. DIA is a major airport and provides easy flights to smaller towns and direct international travel.

Sunny Weather

Eagle is a high-elevation town, which means there are cool temperatures at night and through the winter. However, winters in Eagle are more moderate than in many of the neighboring ski towns, and there is less snow in Eagle as well. In June, July and August, the town enjoys highs in the 80s. And, according to the Town of Eagle, Eagle also gets over 290 days of sunshine per year.
